About Me

I grew up in the ‘burbs of Chicago, and spent as much time as I could skateboarding with my friends, searching for new skate spots to lurk at, and building ramps in the back of my dad’s warehouse. A printing press class I took in High School got me hooked on being in the darkroom, and eventually led me to Columbia College in Chicago. I spent four years skateboarding in the city with my friends and immersing myself in as many photo classes as possible. Naturally, the two things I loved doing the most started to overlap, and once I graduated, I knew I wanted to photograph skateboarding. I headed to California, and after a lot of film shot and a good amount of luck, I ended up landing a staff photographer job at The Skateboard Mag. After about six years at the magazine, I entered the freelance world, where I still am today.

These days, I shoot a mix of skateboarding and lifestyle work, with some alternative film processing thrown into the mix for good measure. My work has been published in Thrasher, The Skateboard Mag, Transworld Magazine, SLAP Magazine, North Skate Mag & Sports Illustrated Kids. A short list of clients include Nike SB Footwear, Vans, Huf Clothing, Tum Yeto Distribution, Deluxe Distribution, NHS Distribution, Skate Mental, Zero Skateboards, Orbs Wheels, and Boost Mobile. I live in Southern California, splitting time between LA and San Diego, with some Chicago sprinkled in.

If you’ve made it this far in the bio, hit me up for a skate session, a cocktail, or a trip to Tuvalu - I like it all!
